I have been on the hunt for the last several years for my all-time-favorite-chewiest-softest-delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. Thanks to my sweet Aunt Kath, I think I have found it! She had dreams of becoming the next Mrs. Fields with this recipe, but I am sure she will let me share it with you. Something about this recipe makes these cookies turn out every time and they have the perfect texture and taste. This is also a great basic dough recipe that you can play around with and make adjustments to. We love to add craisins and white chocolate chips to the dough, or make a heath chip and butterscotch cookie, or a peanut butter supreme cookie (shown) that are to die for! Just replace a 1/2 c. of the butter (1 stick) with a 1/2 c. of peanut butter and then add peanut butter chocolate chips or Peanut M&M’s. YUM!

- 5 to 5 1/2 cup flour
- 4 eggs
- 4 tsp. vanilla
- ¼ tsp. salt (if using unsalted butter use 1 tsp. salt)
- 3 tsp. soda
- 3 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 cup brown sugar
- In a bowl with an electric mixer, beat together the softened butter and sugars. Once it is smooth, add the eggs, and beat until the mixture is fluffy and light in color. Add the rest of the ingredients. Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray. Place gold ball sized cookie balls onto the cookie tray. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown (but not over cooked). Once they are cooked, remove from the oven and let cool completely until you make the sandwiches.

How to make them you ask? Just bake a homemade cookie and put it on the bottom of a plate or bowl. Put vanilla (or any flavor) ice cream on top and drizzle with caramel, hot fudge, and any other toppings you would like 🙂

These look delicious. Do you use closer to 5.5 cups or 6 cups of flour? Are the cookies cakey or chewy? I can't wait to try them.
It is probably closer to 5 1/2 c., but I am not sure (I don't really measure any more). I just add enough flour to the dough so that I can easily roll them into cookie balls, but not that the dough is too dry. Start with 5 1/2 c. and see if you need any more. These cookies are chewy not cakey.
What method do you use to measure your flour? Scoop and sweep? Spoon and sweep? Or fluff, spoon and sweep? Thanks!
Scoop, pat down with the back of a knife, and sweep 😉
This really looks delicious. I'm definitely craving for a plate of that right now. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe. This is definitely a must do recipe this weekend since I got my Alcohol Server Certification.
