My sister in law introduced this recipe into our family and it was an immediate hit. Especially during this time of year when anything with apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and cream taste delightful! This cake is best served warm with the cream drizzle over the top. You can also top it off with whipping cream. This cake is light and absolutely delicious, you’ll love it for any holiday party.

Applesauce Cake
  1. 1 cup brown sugar
  2. ½ cup butter, softened
  3. 2 eggs
  4. 2 tsp. vanilla
  5. 2 tsp. baking soda
  6. 1 tsp. salt
  7. 2 tsp. cinnamon
  8. 1 tsp. nutmeg
  9. 2 cup flour
  10. 2 cup applesauce
Cream Sauce
  1. ½ cup butter
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. ½ cup whipping cream or milk

  1. Cream together the brown sugar and butter until smooth and light and fluffy. Then add the eggs, vanilla, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour and applesauce.
  2. Mix all together until smooth. Spray a 9x13 pan with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake the cake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  3. For the cream sauce, microwave the ingredients until the sugar is melted. Stir often. Serve the hot cake with the glaze on the top.
