For those of you who have followed my blog for awhile you know I adore flavored butter spreads. It’s not that I don’t love plain, good ol’ butter on my bread, but when you can jazz up a stick of butter into something extra special..why settle for less? During the summer I don’t make too many loaves of homemade wheat bread–it’s too hot for that sort of thing. However, as soon as the weather starts to change there is something warm and comforting about a fresh loaf of wheat bread coming out of the oven. If I were still a kid, that is what I would want to come home to! Spruce up a delicious piece of homemade bread or a roll with this Pumpkin Butter Spread and you have a fall treat that everyone will love! This spread is slightly sweet, full of cinnamon-fall flavor and would be great on any of your favorite baked breads. I am even dreaming about this butter in cinnamon roll form, or even on zucchini bread. Really, I think it would be great on just about anything 😉 This also makes a great gift for a neighbor or friend. An inexpensive and perfect fall gift idea.
- 2 sticks butter, room temperature
- 1/3 cup pureed pumpkin
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- Dash nutmeg
- Dash salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 (7-8 oz.) jar marshmallow cream
- In a bowl, with an electric mixer, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes). Add the pumpkin, nutmeg, salt, cinnamon and vanilla and beat again for another minute. Add the marshmallow cream and then beat until light and airy and everything is combined. Serve this butter on warm bread, rolls or toast.
