- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 Tbs. yeast
- 3 Tbs. sugar
- 2 Tbs. white vinegar
- 1 Tbs. salt
- 1/3 cup oil
- 6 1/2 - 7 cups flour
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 Tbs. water
- 8-12 oz. sliced ham
- 8-12 oz. sliced turkey
- 8 oz. sliced Swiss cheese or Monterey Jack Cheese
- 8 oz. shredded colby jack cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper
- Recipe makes two large loaves. In a large mixing bowl add the water, yeast and sugar. Let sit until bubbly, about 3-5 minutes. Then add the vinegar, salt, oil and flour, one cup at a time. Knead on medium speed for 10 minutes. Place the dough into a greased bowl and let the dough rise to the top of the bowl.
- Remove the dough and place on a lightly greased counter top. Roll the dough out into a thin rectangle. Spread the mayonnaise all over the top of the dough piece. Spread the Dijon mustard as well. Layer the ham and turkey all over the top of the dough. Spread the sliced cheese over the dough as well. Sprinkle the top with the shredded colby jack cheese. Roll up the dough from the top, down to the bottom (like you would a cinnamon roll). Keep the roll as tight as you can.
- Once the roll is tightly rolled, cut it into 16 evenly cut pieces. Grease a cookie sheet and place the pieces evenly on the sheet pan. Cover with a cloth and let the rolls rise for 30-40 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve the rolls with a berry jam and some powdered sugar sprinkled on top (if desired).
