Happy National Donut Day! Who knew?! My husband brought me a magazine picture of these donut filled strawberry shortcake desserts and I decided I needed to try those for this weekend. With graduation parties, family gatherings and teenagers wanting to hang out at the house, I am always in need of a quick snack or treat to share.
These donut shortcake desserts were the PERFECT solution. These really couldn’t get easier to make and yet were super cute displayed and everyone loved them. If you need a really easy idea, give these Donut Shortcake’s a try. Hope you enjoy!
- Dozen Glazed Donuts
- 16 oz. heavy whipping cream
- Powdered sugar, to taste
- Vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries
- Slice the strawberries into thin slices. If the strawberries aren't naturally sweet, you can add a little sugar to them in a bowl and let them sit for a minute. Cut the glazed donuts in half. Whip the whipping cream (or use Cool Whip if you're in a hurry) and whip until fluffy. Add enough powdered sugar to make it sweet and a drop of vanilla extract. Whip until peaks form.
- Place a large spoonful of whipping cream on the bottom side of the donut. Top with a spoonful of sliced strawberries. Place the top of the donut on top of the strawberries and top with more whipped cream or more strawberries for garnish. Serve.
